The Dove was painted shortly after Ryan died. Five Baha'i men and one Baha'i woman prepared Ryan's body by washing him with clean water, annointing him with rose water, placed the Baha'i burial ring on his finger and wrapped him with a white silk shroud. They encircled the shroud with a silver silk ribbon and one of the men placed his prayer book in Ryan's hand. My painting was of Ryan's soul escaping his body at the moment of death, The white dove is trailing the silk ribbon behind as it flew upwards.
